Description:
A special
summer camp program just for siblings who have been separated due to
foster care placement. The program was created by Lynn Price, a woman
who had been separated from a sister after their mother’s mental
illness led to placement in the Colorado foster care system. Lynn’s
experiences inspired her to find a way to keep sibling connections alive
for today’s children in care, and in 1995, she founded Camp To Belong in
Gypsum, Colorado. The Colorado
program’s success has led to the creation of satellite programs in
several other states, with plans under way for the first Camp to Belong
Maine to be held in August of 2004.
Camp To Belong also has a year-round community
education program, as well as offering nationwide assistance with
advocacy, policymaking and expert testimony.
