Introductory Training Calendar

The goal of Introductory Training is to provide prospective foster and adoptive parents with the foundational skills necessary to prepare them to understand and cope with the experience of receiving an adoptive or foster child into their home.  This 24 hour competency based training program, known as Fundamentals of Foster and Adoptive Parenting, is delivered at various locations across the state, weekday evenings or Saturdays.  Each year, training teams teach at least 30 rounds of this curriculum.

Introductory Training is mandatory prior to foster home licensure or approval as an adoptive parent.  Prior to registering, participants should have attended an informational meeting and submitted an application to foster/ adopt.  Contact the foster home licensing or adoption unit in your local DHHS office for permission to register for training in your area.
